He is Risen! ...and There's Work to Do
Sunday, March 31st, 2024 20:12I am glad to celebrate one more Easter with my church family today, especially when they bring more relatives to meet and talk to. My priest's sermon was about sight and how we perceive our situation day by day concerning our attitudes towards people, time, or circumstance. It can make all the difference of how we see them by either looking at it by God's standards on what we should do versus what may seem convenient for us at first. It can look like our flesh, or it can look like God's kingdom. Jesus himself made the way possible for us in his obedience to the Father, in the power of the Holy Spirit, to teach us and demonstrate what it looks like to do God's will on earth as it is in heaven.
It's making me ponder about my own actions over the recent years. There are some days that I know I haven't done very well, even to myself. Reliance and surrender doesn't come natural to us, but when we do it, there is less anxiety (unless you take it up again, unfortunately). To truly let that attitude and mindset be effective, trust in God's character and person. If there's one thing to surrender about in the situation, it's definitely worry; you're not the creator of the universe, here. Let it go. It'll be alright, more than you think. God in his nurturing compassion reminds me of this, and I get quieted by the truth of Psalm 46:10.
Within that, I am praying to wrap up my illustration courses pretty soon in the next two weeks, and in the meantime, buff up my skills, possibly through a lot of WIPs that are stuck in a dump of my folders! Perhaps I will also traditionally draw and brainstorm these over again, but I do feel encouraged that one instructor mentioned that the desire of working a piece over again is a good sign of maturity for an artist. You won't really do that piece the same way you did it the first time, and you may execute said artwork much more quickly and thoughtfully, on top of it looking better. So many of my pieces I did stop in the past because I was unequipped in how to really draw certain things, but I do feel like I know better than before. Even if it's not professional enough for some people, I am a bit happier than before to exercise this knowledge. But that's the key: putting it to practice, and I am more eager now than ever to do that.
In the meantime, one of my favorite Easter/Resurrection songs have come to mind, so I might as well share it. Christos Anesti! He got up with all power in his hands!
